YouTube Shorts has seen rapid growth since Google launched TikTok a year back. Google has made it possible for Shorts creators to make money with their videos through the YouTube Shorts FundThey now have the opportunity to make money through the YouTube Partner Program.
YouTube AnnouncementShorts creators can apply for the program in 2023, provided they meet certain criteria. This requires that you have at least 1,000 subscribers and that you receive at least 10,000,000 views in a period of 90 days.
All YPP benefits will be available to those who are eligible, including fan funding. Super ThanksShorts is currently in beta and there are tons of other ways to earn money from their videos. Revenue sharing will be used to pay creators of Shorts for ads running between videos.
YouTube claims that the ads generated revenue will be added together and that 45% of it will be distributed to the current and future Shorts creators under the Partner Program.
Amjadhanif, YouTube’s vice-president of Creator Products, stated, “We expect most of our Shorts Fund beneficiaries to earn more under this new model which was built for sustainability.” “Instead of a fixed-fund, we are doubling down the revenue sharing model which has turbocharged the creator economy while allowing creators to reap the benefits of the platform’s success.”
Hanif estimates that YPP spent more than $50 million on creators, artists, media companies and other entities in the last three-years. With a new tier, the platform is hoping to offer more benefits to up-and-coming creators. The new tier will allow live, short-form, and online creators to enjoy fan funding benefits, such as Super Chat, Super Stickers and Memberships. Although there are not many details, more information will be released before the new tier launches next spring.
YouTube gives creators an easy method to search for music to use in their videos. YouTube Studio’s new Creator Music page gives access to a wide range of tracks that can be used in long-form videos. These tracks can be licensed-free or paid upfront. This will make it easier to use licensed music. Creators can share the revenue with the original artist, and “keep the same share they would on videos without music.”
Creator Music is currently in beta in the U.S., and will be expanded to other countries next year.
