Penn Badgley’s portrayal of Joe Goldberg will be gracing our screen soon when he returns for You’s fourth season on Netflix. The stakes are higher this time as he will be following his next prey on a global scale.
The third season of the show focused on newly married Joe, who is also a father, and his ‘love’ for librarian Marienne (Tati Gabrielle), who is also a single mother. All this happens amid his struggles with suburban domesticity.
The third season ends with him murdering his wife Love (Victoria Pedretti), and giving his son Henry only to stalk the ‘true’ love of his life, Marienne, in Paris. Adapted from Caroline Kepnes novels, the series asks a horrendous question: “What would you do for love?”
Official press release reveals that Season 4 will begin from the end of the previous season, with Joe following Marienne to Europe. Season 4 of You will air February 10. Here’s what we know:
Joe Goldberg is the antihero
Badgley’s TikTok debut was with a lipsync of Taylor Swift’s Anti-Hero, which portrays his character’s duality with lyrics such as ‘Hi, I’m the problem, it’s me.’
Sera Gamble, the showrunner, also updated the show’s process with a caption “Hi from #younetflix postproduction,” Gamble wrote, including a still from the monitor. “Safe to say we’re all having a better day than Joe is.”

Season 4 will be split into two segments
The first segment will premiere on February 10th, while the second portion will debut on March 10. Gamble teased Gamble fans Instagram, “Trust me, you’ll need the time to process… and maybe place a few friendly bets about where it’s all going.”

Unexpected location
Netflix announced that the next installment will be set in London, even though Joe was in Paris searching for Marienne. Production is currently underway.

Charlotte Ritchie
Kate, played by Charlotte Ritchie, is a new character who will be Joe’s next obsession. She is the single daughter of a single parent and works hard to create a new life. She is responsible for managing a gallery of artists. Kate has to be “the adult in the room,” while embracing the “icy bitch” persona.
Kate protects Lady Phoebe, her close friend whose wealth attracts troubles. She also dates self-centered literature professor Malcolm (Stephen Hagan) as she prefers “arrangements” to love.
Malcolm invites Joe to their world. Kate doesn’t like him and suspects something is wrong with him.

In season 3, he let Madre Linda a blogger and his neighbours free, he will be facing Lady Phoebe, another blogger, whose “every bikini wax has been documented by the tabloids since she was 15 years old.”
Lukas Gage

Lukas, who was a star in Euphoria and is now rumoured as a rival for Joe, is Lukas. Adam is the son of a wealthy East Coast businessman, and he has an elite background. While he might appear normal from the outside, he harbors many secrets that he uses to self-medicate.
His security guard, driver and drug dealer Vic Pertwee (Sean Pertwee), are there to protect him at any cost. According to his character description, he wants to show that he can do anything and is a successful businessman. He is currently dating Lady Phoebe. It is not clear if he loves her or uses her.
The literary world
Malcolm Hagan, literature professor, will take the center stage. Amy Leigh Hickman will play Nadia, a student in lit who is in disarray. Nadia faces a challenger in Edward (Brad Alexander), who is the father of a powerful news agency. Ed Speleers, who was in Outlander, will play Rhys, an author whose memoir’s success led him to become a politician.

Niccy Lin plays Sophie (Aidan Cheng), an entrepreneur and her introverted brother Simon (Aidan Cheng). Ben Wiggins plays Roald who is from an old, aristocratic family. Eve Austin portrays Gemma. Gemma is a wealthy girl who loves to attend fashion shows, VIP events and dates.
Ozioma Ifu plays Blessing, a Nigerian princess with several post-graduate degrees. Dario Coates will portray Connie, a soft-spoken sportsman. Alison Pargeter plays Dawn as Dawn, a paparazzo. Adam James portrays Elliot, who is traveling through Europe in his job.

Marienne leaves after learning of Joe’s true intentions. Gabrielle spoke to ScreenRantShe told them about her hope that Joe is an enemy of her.
“I really would love to see her foil Joe,” Gabrielle said. “On one hand, I would love to see her foil Joe, and then, on the other hand, I’d love to see what it could be like for Marienne to just have a good life. She was so struggling for so many years. And yeah, I want her to have a happy ending.”
Another format
Badgley revealed that the show will have a shift of theme. Entertainment Tonight. He stated that the series would evolve as Joe (Badgley), understands his trauma.
“The tone is similar but it’s shifting in that there is a different format. We’re using a different format,” Badgley hinted. “It’s almost like we’re shifting the genre slightly, and I think it works.”
