You may have missed the ‘House of the Dragon’ prophecy in episode 9.

The end of House of the DragonEpisode 9It was abrupt and dramatic. The focus now naturally rests on Rhaenys’ dramatic, dragon-assisted escape of King’s Landing.

It shouldn’t have been so shocking, since we were already told that it would happen. The problem was that the words were said by someone nobody hears.

Let’s move on for a second. The episode begins after King Viserys ().FinallyQueen Alicent, who has been confirmed dead, goes in search of her son Aegon to inform him that he is going to be the new King. Her first stop was Princess Helaena, Aegon’s sister/wife (yep), her daughter.

You may recall that Princess Helaena is quite eccentric. She loves to play with insects but doesn’t speak much. And when she does, it sounds like random nonsense.

Or it did until she accurately predicted the episode 9 finale.

The scene is Alicent visiting Helaena. She is about to tell Alicent about her father’s passing when Helaena interrupts and whispers, “Helaena!”The boards are home to a beast.”

Alicent does not take notice of the situation at the moment. As viewers, we don’t pay much attention.

The episode ends with Helaena giving new meaning to her words. There are WasA beast lurks beneath the boards: Princess Rhaenys’ dragon Meleys. On the back of which, she bursts through floor to stop King Aemon’s coronation. Then she flies off to Rhaenyra to tell her about the Hightowers’ plans.

It turns out that we should have listened to Helaena the whole time. Going back to her previous scenes, Helaena predicts her brother being blinded in one eye in episode 6 — “He’ll have to close an eye,” she whispers when her mother tells Aemond he’ll have a dragon one day — and in episode 7 she mutters a seemingly nonsensical poem that may hold even greater significance.

Helaena made a casual prediction about her brother’s loss of an eye back in episode 6.

Helaena, who is singing under her breath at The, says, “Hands turn loom, Spool of Green, Spool of Black, Dragons of flesh weaving Dragons of Thread,” Funeral of Laena Velayron.

What if “Hands turns loom” is a reference to Otto Hightower’s plot to have his daughter marry King Viserys? The spools made of black and green could be symbolic of The various factions are set to go to war(Alicent against Rhaenyra), the dragons could be a symbol of what’s to come during that fight. For example, could dragons of thread refer to banners? Could it also refer to Rhaenyra’s children, the fake Targaryens?

It’s difficult to say but Helaena’s track records suggest that we will soon find out.

Neue House of the DragonEpisodes are available on HBO and HBO Max every Sunday.
