Xi Jinping is elected China’s third president

  • Xi Jinping was re-elected for a third term. 
  • In 2018, Xi eliminated the two-term presidential limits.

Xi Jinping will remain China’s President for a historic 3rd term.

The Chinese Communist Party also revealed six other members — Li Qiang, Zhao Leji, Wang Huning, Cai Qi, Li Xi, and Ding Xuexiang — elected to the Politburo Standing Committee, China’s governmental body, CNN.

Leading up to the lineup announcement was the 20th Communist Party Congress — during which China’s top leader prior to Xi, Hu Jintao was escorted from the session..
