Xabi Allonso, Bayer Leverkusen’s Head Coach, is replaced by Gerardo Soane

Xabi Alonso, a former Liverpool, Real Madrid, and Bayern Munich midfielder has been appointed the new coach of Bayer Leverkusen in Germany. 

LeverkusenGerardo Seoane has left the club after overseeing a difficult start to the season, which saw the club finish 17th in the league. Bundesliga table.

Alonso (40) has signed a contract through June 2024.

“I know Leverkusen from my time in Germany as an excellent club. Bayer 04 have always had great players, and I see a lot of quality in the current squad too,” said Alonso.

“In my discussions with the club, it quickly became clear that, despite the currently difficult situation, ambitious goals are still being pursued in principle. I am very excited about this task and I am sure that we will live up to this claim.”

Alonso was previously the manager of Real Sociedad B. The club was promoted to the Segunda Division in his second season after a win over Algeciras.
