The Missouri-based Stray Rescue of St. Louis was contacted recently about a puppy who had been left next to a dumpster that was open to the public.
The puppy was in distress and began to shake until the Good Samaritan arrived. They arrived quickly and offered assistance.
He was named the cutest thing, however.
According to Natalie Thompson, a representative of Stray Rescue of St. Louis, “Shoestring was found by a sweet and kind person who was taking her trash out. She saw the puppy tied to the fence with a shoestring — hence how he got his name. He was shaking from nerves, so she called us, and sat with him until our team arrived.”
This adorable dog needed help to escape this difficult situation and find a good home. Shoestring received a thorough exam by a veterinarian and was given a delicious meal and lots of love from Thompson and his team.
“He’s a sweet older puppy, in good health,” according to Thompson. “We’re not sure why he was tied up and abandoned.”
As soon as Shoestring sank into the reassuring arms of the rescue team, he forgot all about that day’s unpleasant events.
“Once he knew he was safe, he melted into a total lovebug,” Thompson remarked. “He loves other dogs and all people. He’s cuddly and kind and loves to play and wrestle.”
“He’s doing great,” Thompson said. “A loving foster family came to get him so he didn’t have to stay in our shelter, which is beyond full. There was no room for him to stay here, so we’re happy he’s loving life in his foster home and is so grateful to them.”
When he finds his forever family, Shoestring will be treasured as a precious jewel.
