Ava, a Chow mix pregnant, was to be surrendered at a shelter in order to make room for new dogs. Ava was also expecting.
Fortunately, a good Samaritan named Ashlee Holland (who we consider a HERO)Holland discovered Ava, and decided to adopt her. Holland was also an aunt, making her feel similar to Ava.

Holland took Ava with her to the veterinarian for a physical and an x-ray. But no one knew exactly how many puppies Ava would have. Ava gave birth to her baby in the evening, less than two weeks after she visited the veterinarian.

Soon after, she had her first puppy. After having four puppies in the hour that followed, she took a break, then had two more puppies an hour later.
Her contractions had stopped. Her human changed her bedding, and she got her clean while she took care of her seven pups. But little did her human know, she wasn’t done having puppies. She had eight more puppies that night!

Ava gave birth to three more puppies as the hours passed. This brought her litter to an incredible 18!

Holland saved not only Ava’s life but the lives of 18 little pups as well! All the puppies were healthy and grew quickly. Ava was a wonderful doggy mom for all 18 of her puppies.
The best news is that all of the puppies were adopted to loving forever homes! ❤️
