Joe Hart was at fault for RB Leipzig’s second goal as Celtic fell to a 3-1 defeat to the German side in the Champions League.
Chelsea’s target Christopher Nkunku was defeated by Andre Silva, who scored a brace to secure victory for the Bundesliga outfit.
France international Nkunku set Leipzig on their path, scoring the ball as the hosts attacked on the counter.
Celtic responded through Jota’s second-half goal as he latched onto Kyogo Furuhashi’s low cross, but their good work was undone after Bhoys shot-stopper Hart gave the ball straight to Dominik Szoboszlai.
Andre Silva, a 20-year old impressive player, then set up Andre Silva to score his first goal.
Nkunku selected Mohamed Simakan as his next victim, who helped Silva bring home more misery to Celtic.
It means the Scottish Champions’ hopes of progressing to the last-16 of Europe’s elite competition are now very slim, with Leipzig leapfrogging them in Group F.
Celtic was unable to seize their chance and eventually lost.
Hart’s mistake for the second goal against Manchester City was especially costly. Hart passed the ball directly to Szoboszlai who then slipped Silva in for a goal.
Matt Holland, talkSPORT host, was baffled by Hart’s decision not to play the ball out before Leipzig got their second.
“Joe Hart, Joe Hart, Joe Hart, what are you doing? The pass is not on”, he said live on commentary for talkSPORT 2.
“The pass to Moritz Jenz on the right is not on, he has tried to thread a ball which just isn’t on.
“He has given it away, just moments after RB Leipzig had a goal ruled out for offside.
Celtic faces a difficult task if they want to make it through the group. They are currently at the bottom of this group, having only picked up one point so far.
