Waukesha parade suspect Darrell Brooks is violent in court and attacks witnesses during cross-examination

Darrell Brooks Jr., a 40-year-old Milwaukee man, is accused of murdering six people and wounding dozens more during a Christmas parade last year in Waukesha. While cross-examining themThursday in court

Brooks, who is representing herself, repeatedly interrupts the courtroom since the beginning of his trial. Judge Jennifer Dorow has reprimanded Brooks on numerous occasions.

According to a transcript, she allowed him to speak during the proceedings on Thursday but dismissed most of his statements as unimportant. FOX 6 Milwaukee. 

Brooks repeatedly interrupted Dorow’s conversation, culminating in a 50 minute rant where he claimed that Dorow had been denied certified copies of court documents and that the court was in conflict of interest. Brooks told Dorow that he moved “for the dismissal” of the case because he didn’t receive “certified copies”, and that “there are many more victims that aren’t discussed.”

Dorow finally cut him off. Waukesha District AttorneySue Opper called Broosk’s “sovereign citizen” arguments “ridiculous.”

Dorow stated that Brooks hadn’t filed a “proper” motion. “The only argument that I could see in those 50 minutes was that this case should be dismissed.”

Brooks had to cross-examine Laura Thein, who was a member the “Dancing Grannies”, group that participated in the parade.

Thein claimed that Brooks’ red SUV sprinted through the parade striking multiple people.

She said, “I looked around and saw so many bodies on ground.” “I believed I was in war.”

Brooks then asked Brooks if Brooks had a look at her driver.

“No, my eyes are not in the back of your head,” replied the survivor.

Virginia Sorenson (79), a Dancing Granny and friend of Thein, was also killed in the attack. She was also killed with Jackson Sparks (8), Jackson Sparks (8), Tamara Durand (52) and Jane Kulich (52) and Wilhelm Hospel (81). 

Brooks initially pleaded not guilt by reason of mental defects, but he reversed his position before trial, fired all of his public defenders, and tried to represent himself.

Brooks, who was in a jail visitation area after his arrest, told Fox News Digital that it felt like he was “dehumanized” as well as “demonized”

Brooks’ 50-page rap sheet, which included multiple attacks on women and family members, was prior to the offense. After allegedly assaulting his ex-girlfriend and breaking her phone, Brooks was released from jail on $1,000 bail. He was convicted of aggravated battery with intent for great bodily injury in 1999.

The court is closed at noon CT for lunch.
