Washington, DC: Report on 1 injury from shooting blocks near the White House

Just blocks away, gunshots could be heard. White HouseA report states that at least one woman sustained injuries in the early hours of Sunday morning. 

Washington D.C. Metropolitan Police are reported to be on the scene investigating the incident An alleged shootingAccording to DC Realtime News.

“BREAKING NEWS: SHOOTING BLOCKS FROM WHITE HOUSE: 12th & Penn Ave. N.W. MPD at the scene investigating shooting with unidentified woman with gunshot wounds,” local reporter tweeted shortly after midnight on Sunday.

Fox News Digital didn’t immediately receive a reply from MPD to confirm this report.

Sherif Akande (44) from Southwest, D.C. was named as the victim of Friday’s incident. According to Fox 5, he was declared dead at the scene.

The police did not release any details about a suspect or suspected.

Metropolitan PoliceAccording to Fox 5, the victim of Friday’s shooting may have been involved with a road rage incident in the 600 block of E Street. Fox 5 reported that she sustained a leg injury and was transported to a nearby hospital. 

MPD is still investigating.

A separate shooting in the 1800 block 18th Street at 12:00 p.m. Saturday left a teenager fatally wounded. Responding officers arrived on the scene to find that the victim was not breathing and unconscious. Later, he was declared dead.

Fox 5 reported that a person in interest is currently being held.
