Warner Bros. Discovery finally finds DC’s Kevin Feige

  • DC Studios will be run by Peter Safran and James Gunn.
  • Warner Bros. is ending its search for an executive like Marvel’s Kevin Feige. Discovery is no longer searching for an executive like Kevin Feige of Marvel.
  • The baggage-laden DC film universe is passed to the pair.

Warner Bros. Discovery has finally found an executive to lead its DC movie and TV franchise — well, executives, plural, that is.

Warner Bros. Discovery announced on Tuesday that James Gunn, the director of DC movie “The Suicide Squad”, and creator of its TV spinoff, “Peacemaker,” will lead DC’s film and TV animation divisions. Peter Safran has also produced several movies for Warner Bros.

DC Studios will be the name of the division moving forward. Gunn, Safran and Co-CEOs will serve as cochairs.

“DC has some of the most powerful, entertaining, and iconic characters in this world. I am thrilled to have James and Peter join my world-class group and oversee the creative direction of DC Universe,” Warner Bros. David Zaslav, Discovery CEO Statement.

He said: “Their decades-long experience in filmmaking and close ties with the creative community make them uniquely qualified for developing a long term strategy across TV, film, and animation and taking this iconic franchise to a higher level of creative storytelling.”

Zaslav was looking for someone who would lead DC’s TV and movie efforts since WarnerMedia and Discovery merged earlier in the year. He stated during the company’s first earnings call that it was Charting a “10 year plan”Similar to Kevin Feige, president of Marvel Studios, who has done the same with the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

After being fired in 2018 from the third Guardians of the Galaxy movie, Gunn moved to Warner Bros. and DC. After being fired from “Guardians of the Galaxy 3”, Gunn made “The Suicide Squad” as well as its HBO Max spinoff, “Peacemaker”. 

Marvel quickly rehired Gunn to direct Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3” will be released in theaters in 2014. Gunn’s return from Marvel Universe will likely be brief.

Gunn and Safran will inherit a DC movie universe You can carry a lot of luggage. Ezra Miller (the star of “The Flash”) recently pleaded not guilty in a recent court case to petit larceny and burglary charges. If convicted, they will be sentenced to 26 years imprisonment.

Two newly appointed executives have to sort through many different projects under development from different parties.

Matt Reeves, director of “The Batman,” is seeking to expand the film’s world with villain-centric films. The Hollywood Reporter. Henry Cavill said this week that he would be returning as Superman after appearing in “Black Adam,” which was a comeback movie. This would compete with the Black Superman movie written in part by Ta-Nehisi Coates, an essayist and author.
