Video shows workers rioting at an iPhone manufacturing plant in China

Social media videos show hundreds of workers fighting with security guards at Apple’s largest iPhone-making plant in China. This is as a result of discontent over the draconian COVID-19 regulations at the plant.

Foxconn’s Zhengzhou factory workers can be seen charging guards in white hazmat suits and swarming the factory grounds.

Insider couldn’t independently verify where or when the videos were taken.

The protests started Wednesday morning Beijing time. Bloomberg reportedAccording to the outlet, the witness was an unnamed worker at the factory and sent the clips to the outlet. According to the outlet one video shows guards hitting a person with sticks.

Bloomberg was told by a witness that the riots were caused by unpaid wages and worker concerns about being infected with COVID-19. Bloomberg also reported that the witness stated that anti-riot police were deployed to restore order.

Insider reached out to Foxconn and Apple for comment but they did not immediately reply.
