If there’s one thing we love more than shelter dogs, it’s people who find it in their hearts to adopt senior shelter dogs. It’s heartbreaking to think of any dog needing a home, but to think about a dog nearing the end of its life with no one to cherish and love them is almost unbearable.

How dear is the caption that reads, “When both your dogs turn 18 years old and you spend nearly every weekend just hanging out with them. No regrets.” So many of the commenters on the video are also owners of senior dogs, with @BartOconnel posting, “We adopted two 14-year-old dogs as well, and it’s the best thing we ever did, they made such a difference. I wish you and them a long happy life.”
It is impossible to know how much time we will get with our animal friends, especially if they are senior dogs. It’s so beautiful to see people who adopt these animals and save them from what little time they have left in shelters. All of you who bring an old dog into your home, simply to make them feel special, are angels on Earth.
Here’s to beautiful Jack and Maisie for all the older dogs out there. You will have many happy hours and plenty of belly rubs.
