Hope For Paws was contacted by a concerned owner about an injured and terrified dog who needed immediate help.
Mike Badger, a good Samaritan, had been feeding the homeless dog each day and he found Hope For Paws.
Mr. Badger led Hope For Paws volunteers to the dog’s usual hiding place, but the dog wasn’t there. They found him asleep against a wall of an industrial area that overlooks a parking garage and a busy street. Since they didn’t want the dog to run into traffic, they knew they had to be careful but act quickly.
The dog ran away from rescuers because he was so scared. They chased the dog into the garage and caught him with a trap.
The petrified puppy yelped and tried to escape the snare, but he didn’t know that these people were there to help him. He calmed down eventually and received some food from his rescuers.
They called him Masik, and they took him to the vet for a thorough examination. His entire body was covered in fleas and matted hair. He was so matted that it was necessary to give him a deep anesthetic in order to shave his entire body.
A fractured pelvis was also discovered by X-rays. Dr. Antonio Pedraza performed surgery to fix it.
Masik is now in recovery and lives with L.A. Animal Rescue. He’s doing much better now, but he still needs a forever home.
