United Flights to Los Angeles were canceled due to a reported gas leak at LAX

  • Los Angeles International Airport Terminal 8 is experiencing disruptions Monday due to an “apparent gas leak”.
  • Many inbound United Airlines flights were halted as a result. Passengers were evacuated from the terminal.
  • Four people sustained injuries from carbon dioxide vapor. One was sent to the hospital in critical condition.

Los Angeles International Airport is experiencing disruptions on Monday.

Twitter account for the airport PostOn Monday, passengers had to be evacuated from Terminal 8 because of an “apparent leakage” in Terminal 8. Fire crews are currently on the scene assessing the danger and will let passengers in the terminal when it is safe to do so.

The airport All other flights are normal and all terminals work as usual.

 

Insider was informed by the airport that there had been a gas leak in Terminal 8. “The terminal had to be evacuated immediately. The LAFD responded and treated several patients.”

An advisory PostBy the Federal Aviation Administration announced a ground stop at the airport until 9:00 a.m. PST, with United Airlines and its regional affiliates being impacted. The stop was ExtendedIn a follow up notice, you can still access the service until 10:00 a.m.

Insider was informed by the airport that United aircraft still in their origin country are being “held at departure until minimum 10 a.m.” TweetSome planes will still land on schedule at 9:24 a.m.

United sent a request to comment to LAX airport.

According to Los Angeles Fire DepartmentAfter a “popping sound” was heard, four airport workers were exposed in a utility area to carbon dioxide. Two males and one woman were treated immediately for minor complaints. The fourth man, described as being in his mid-50s and “pulseless” and “non-breathing,” was taken to the hospital.

Insider was informed by an LAFD spokesperson that his condition was improved from “gravely to critical” when he arrived at hospital. It isn’t known if he survived.
