Twitter’s offices were abruptly closed on Thursday. This happened about a week after Elon Musk informed employees that the remote-work policy of the company was ending. Also, as reports surfaced of mass resignations.

Employees were informed by company officials that all buildings had been temporarily closed and that their badge access would not be granted for the moment. Platformer’s Zoë Schiffer first reported. Insiders confirmed that Twitter employees had been denied badge access and were being asked to leave the office. They are expected to reopen Monday.

Musk and others were afraid that employees would “sabotage” the company, Schiffer reported. They are now working out who has to be removed.

Twitter did the same.To prevent employees from leaving and taking unwelcome actions, layoffs were announced earlier in the month. An email was sent to employees explaining that layoffs were imminent and that offices would be temporarily shut down.

“To ensure safety for each employee, as well as the Twitter systems and customer information, our offices will be temporarily shut down and badge access suspended.” Please return to your office if you’re in the office or are on the way to one.

The latest closure took place just one week later Musk ended remote work at Twitter. Musk informed employees in his first email to the company since taking control that they were no longer allowed to work remotely, and asked them to return to work within days.

Reports also described it. Mass resignationsat the company. After Musk called for employees to commit to “Twitter 2.0” — his “extremely hardcore” version of the company — or be part of voluntary layoffs with severance pay, It is less than halfAbout 4,000 of them chose to remain on Thursday.

Twitter did not respond immediately to Insider’s request.
