Trump’s Allies are baffled by his Support for QAnon: Rolling Stone

Allies of former President Donald Trump are baffled as to why he is leaning harder than ever into his support of QAnon — a conspiracy-theory-led movement that baselessly claims Trump is fighting a deep-state cabal of pedophiles.

Rolling StoneI spoke with several Trump associates, and some expressed confusion about why Trump suddenly became so vocal in promoting QAnon-related messages.

The New York TimesOver the weekend, it was reported that Trump rallies in Youngstown, Ohio featured music that sounded like a QAnon song. At the rally, Trump supporters were also seen pointing fingers at the sky while chanting “Qanon!” one-finger saluteExperts speculate that this might have been an allusion to the movement’s slogan “Where we go one we go all.”

Rolling Stone asked an unnamed Trump ally if he supported the fringe group. He replied, “Fuck it if I know.”

Another source spoke with people close to Trump, who suggested that Trump was trolling for support.

Rolling Stone reports that Trump has said that he believes some of their memes are “funny” according to a source close. A source close to Trump said that Trump thought it was hilarious that the media would become “so mad” when the ex-president touched the Q shit.

Another Rolling Stone source, a former White House official, stated that Trump sometimes believed his QAnon followers had “the correct idea” about their hatred for “deep state.” A term used in the movement, it refers to shady, hidden networks and alliances that have influence over power at all levels of government.

“I don’t recall his exact words. [Trump’s response]According to a source, the quote was: “There are lots of sick and bad people in Hollywood,” according to Rolling Stone.

Insider reached out to Trump’s post-presidential office for clarification but was not immediately able to respond.

Following the FBI’s raid on the former president’s Mar-a-Lago residence on August 8, Trump — who previously I was intrigued by the idea of Qanon — has started referencing the movement far more intensely than before.

Frank Figliuzzi, a former FBI official, stated this week that Trump has accepted QAnon. It could be “the last slap of a desperate person.”Figliuzzi, speaking to Insider Monday, said Trump’s support for QAnon was indicative that he is feeling “increasing desperateness,” which could result in violence within the movement.
