Trump Will Not Choose Pence Again as VP Because He Didn’t Stop Election Certification for Biden

According to a new book, former President Donald Trump would not pick Mike Pence as his running mate if it were up to him to run for president in 2024.

Trump hasn’t yet announced his 2024 campaign, but he has been teasing one since leaving White House. 

Trump claimed that Pence would be “totally inappropriate” as his running mate. This according to a ReportThe Guardian obtained an advance copy of The Guardian’s upcoming book from Peter Baker (journalists Susan Glasser)

Trump stated to Glasser & Baker, “Mike committed political suicidal” by refusing to interfere in the election certification process as former president had asked him to.

Multiple reports have reported an apparent increase in the number of people who are affected by it. RiftBetween Trump and Pence during Trump’s final days as president, which culminated in the Capitol riot. 

Pence refused to act on Trump’s January 2020 request to intervene. He later stated Trump was wrong to say the vice president had the power to overturn the results of a presidential election. 

Pence’s remarks are a reminder that the two of them no longer speak on the same speaking terms. Trump was furiousPence was clearly called “wrong” by he, and he responded.

Trump claimed that the proposed changes to The Electoral Count ActPence was granted the authority.

The Electoral Count Act explains how Congress counts presidential electors, and settles disputes about results. Legislators are trying to update the bill to clarify language that “leaves an open door for overtly partisan manipulation of presidential elections at both the state-federal levels.” Insider’s Grace Panetta reported.

Pence, as vice president, was responsible for overseeing the certification of the Electoral College. His role is largely ceremonial. He was not able to change the Constitution’s results.

Pence spoke out about his involvement in the Capitol riot since the insurrection. He said that January 6 was difficult to pass and called it “a tragic moment in the national life.” 

Pence stated in a Fox News interview, “I know that I did my duty under Constitution of the United States.” InterviewThis was January. “But the president of the United States and I sat down in those days, we talked about it, discussed it, and we parted amicably.”
