Trump Slams Biden’s Declining Gas Prices ‘Just before the Election’

Former President Donald Trump was in Ohio to rally support of Republican Senate Candidat JD Vance and criticized President Joe Biden over the recent declines in national gas prices. 

Speaking at the 7,000-seat Covelli Centre in Youngstown, Trump — who He plotted to defeat the 2020 election — claimed that shrinking gas prices are a ploy Biden is using for political gain.

In a tweet, President Obama acknowledged Saturday as the 95th day that gas prices have been falling steadily since hitting record highs earlier in the year. According to the White House the national average for a gallon gas is $3.68.

The administration — Biden himself — have claimed that the drop in prices is the steepest decline in more than a decade. The claim was not verified independently by Insider.

 

Trump attacked Biden for entering the US Strategic Petroleum Reserve to let out crude oil in an attempt to reduce overpriced gas, despite it being “only for warfare.” Trump did the exact same thing During his administrationAfter attacks on its production facilities, Saudi Arabia’s crude oil production dramatically decreased. per CNBC.

“He’s using that to keep prices down as much as he can just before the election and right after the election, it’s going to double up and go higher than anybody ever believed,” Trump claimed at the rally on Saturday.

Trump claimed that the average today is “double or triple” what it was under his administration. 

The Associated Press reported the national average was as low as $1.87 per gallon during May 2020, but the outlet attributed the low cost mostly to the COVID-19 pandemic lockdown.

While Trump’s rant about the current state of gas prices was arousing cheers, some supporters weren’t too concerned.

Right Side Broadcasting Network interviewed a woman wearing a pro-Trump hat and asked her to comment on how the gas prices were for her 5.5-hour drive. The woman disagreed.

Supporter: “It wasn’t too bad” was his assessment of gas prices. 

 

Insider asked for comment from Trump spokesperson, but they did not respond immediately.
