Trump is reported to be furious at the top Republicans for trying to convince him not to run in the Georgia Senate election: Report

Former President Donald Trump is reportedly furious that top Republicans are trying to dissuade him from travelling to Georgia to campaign for the party's candidate in the Senate runoff election next month, Rolling Stone reported.

Two sources close to the matter said that Trump supporters and leading GOP figures had asked Trump not to hold a rally within the state on the day of the election. December 6 runoff between Republican candidate Herschel WalkerTrump’s endorsed candidate, Raphael Warnock, the Democratic opposition. 

The election was decided by a runoff because neither candidate received more that 50% of the votes in the November 8 midterms.

Voting will determine whether Democrats are able to increase their Senate majority.

Sources claim that the ex-president has said that he would react badly if Ron DeSantis is invited to the party., the Florida governor widely seen as Trump's main challenger for the 2024 GOP nomination, to campaign in the runoffs. 

Trump supported hundreds of candidates during the midterm elections in an effort to consolidate his control over the Republican Party. He also announced his 2024 bid. But This strategy seems to have failed, as many people underperformed in key racesAnd the Democrats overcame any expectations of an electoral defeat to keep control of Senate and limit the GOP’s reach to a narrow House majority.

Trump's relentless promotion of election fraud conspiracy theories in 2020 was blamed by some for the Republican Party's two Georgia Senate runoff defeats last year. Politico reported that critics thought it deterred many party supporters.

Walker's campaign has more than enough controversies of its own to deal with, having were damaged by reports that he had paid for his ex-girlfriendTo have an abortion more then a decade ago, despite calling for a complete ban on the process on the campaign trail.
