Trump Advisor Tom Barrack Acquitted of Lobbying For Foreign Government

Tom Barrack, a longtime friend and ally of President Donald Trump, has been cleared of charges of lobbying for foreign governments.

According to court documents, a jury at Brooklyn’s federal court found Barrack innocent of all charges Friday.

Prosecutors had charged Barrack with acting as an unregistered agent foreign agent for the United Arab Emirates under Trump’s presidency. Later, he allegedly lied to FBI about contacts he made in the UAE.

Prosecutors allegedBarrack made use of his friendship with Trump in order to give UAE officials inside access to Trump’s administration and his 2016 campaign.

Barrack claimed that he did not work with the UAE. According to NBC News.

Barrack stated that he was so moved by the system and the jury after Friday’s acquittal, NBC News reported.

Barrack’s former aide Matthew Grimes also was acquitted on charges of acting in unregistered foreign agency.
