Tottenham Hotspur nears agreement on stadium naming rights with Google. Negotiations between Daniel Levy, the tech giants, and Tottenham Hotspur are “well under way”.

Negotiations between Tottenham Hotspur and Google over the club’s stadium naming rights are now ‘well under way’ with reports an agreement could be reached soon.

While the details of this deal are still being worked out, Spurs seem to be close to naming the ground after themselves in 2019.

This week, The Athletic reported Google execs had held ‘meaningful talks’ with Tottenham chiefs over the potential to buy their £1billion stadium’s naming rights.

According to an Italian journalist, it is now Gianluca di Marzio, negotiations haven’t concluded yet, but are ‘well under way’.

It’s also understood the figures of the agreement – which are likely to be mouth-watering – are still a secret.

Should the deal go through, Tottenham’s ground could be called Google Stadium moving forward, although some fans have suggested calling it Chrome Dome, after the tech giants’ internet browser.

Spurs chairman Daniel Levy confirmed in 2019 his intention to sell the rights to the name of the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium back in April 2019, but was yet to find ‘the right brand on the right money’.

But given Google is one of the most valuable companies in the world – worth over £1 trillion – and they’ve struck a number of sporting partnerships in recent years, including a deal with the McLaren Racing Formula 1 TeamThey could be the perfect fit.

The north London club’s ground is a big pull for Google, too, given it hosts Premier League and Champions League matches, as well as NFL games.

The state-of-the-art facility has also hosted several other high-grossing events, including high-profile boxing fights like Anthony Joshua’s title bout with Oleksandr Usyk in September last year, and music concerts.
