Todd Gurley says he’s likely done playing football, no retirement papers officially filed

Falcons and Ex-Rams running back Todd GurleyHe is likely to retire from football, he said during a Friday interview with Andrew Siciliano of NFL Network.

“I don’t think there’s any question about that one,” Gurley said when asked if he was done.

Gurley was then asked to confirm that he had left football and would not return to it. The NFLHe replied, “Yeah most definitely.”

Gurley used Twitter over the past few days to thank former NFL players and encourage speculation about a possible retirement.

“I just wanted to show gratitude, man, because there’s a lot of guys that’s on this earth, and especially as all alpha males, we don’t show the love that we’re supposed to. I just wanted to let those guys know that I appreciate them for everything that they’ve done for me, just from an inspirational level, just from watching those guys when I was four or five years old.

“We don’t do this a lot, man. We don’t cheer each other on, and we don’t pick each others up. Postgame, we see each other and that’s about it. Just wanted to tell everyone that I appreciate them all.”

Gurley’s six-year career lasted.

He was the NFL Offensive player of the year in 2017. He was named the NFL Offensive Player of the Year in 2017. One year later, he led all NFL players with 17 rushing touchdowns during the 2018-2019 season. He also caught four touchdowns totaling 580 yards. 

The Los Angeles Rams offense relies on the quarterback. Gurley was instrumental in the team’s successTo cap off the 2017 season, the Super Bowl. Gurley saw very little action at the Super Bowl. 

The Rams offense failed to perform in the 2018 Super Bowl. They lost to the Patriots, 13-3. The Rams announced that Gurley had arthritis in his knee after the game.

Gurley continued to have knee issues throughout his 2019 campaign. Gurley became more dangerous in the red zone and ended 2019 with 857 yards rushing and 12 touchdowns.

He was then released by the Rams and signed with them. Atlanta Falcons2020-2021 season. He was a part of 15 games and ran for 678 yards. Nine touchdowns were scored.

Gurley was a great player Georgia College Football. He amassed 3,285 yards of rushing and 36 touchdowns while in Athens. He also had 615 receiving yards. 

He was also an athlete who suffered from injuries during his stellar career at Georgia.

Gurley ran for 1,102 yards to earn Offensive Rookie-of-the Year honors.

Gurley was the Rams’ No. Gurley was drafted No. 10 in the 2015 draft. The franchise was still in St. Louis. He finished his NFL career with 6,082 yards rushing.
