They were instructed by their vet to say goodbye, but the couple manages the dog home

Doc’s owner brought him to the shelter and claimed they could no longer care for him because he was unable to walk. The shelter added the canine to its immediate euthanasia list.

But Mckenzie, the boy’s foster mother, became emotionally attached to him and had to take him in.

She wouldn’t allow him to be defeated that quickly. She and her fiance were determined to carefully consider all of their alternatives before making such a significant decision, even if Doc’s entire spine protruded from his back.

They took the dog to the veterinarian, who diagnosed him as suffering from degenerative myelopathy. He recommended his death.

Doc was sent home by Grant and Mckenzie after Grant asked that Doc be allowed to return home.

But as they raised the boy’s back legs with a crude brace, they noticed that he could move them and attempt to walk by himself. This totally changed the perception that he was not there for a purpose.

Doc should not be put down! Grant and McKenzie continued to work with Doc, and the dog got better.

He learned quickly how to play, run and move around with the other dogs. He has been given them for a reason. 🙂
