The internet is buzzing with excitement at the “Doctor Who” regeneration twist. Check out the most popular reactions.

Doctor WhoThe Fourteenth Doctor was presented on Sunday night in the UK by Jodie Whittaker, ending Jodie’s five year tenure as the Time Lord. Anyone was not surprised by the Doctor’s rebirth. Whittaker’s departure was announced well in advance of last year. Since May, we’ve known that. Sex Education Ncuti Gatwa will soon play the role as Doctor.

However, viewers were shocked and long-standing fans were thrilled by the unexpected twist.

Chris Chibnall was the showrunner who left “The Power of the Doctor,” the final of three. Doctor WhoSpecials had been planned for 2022. The episode saw the Thirteenth Doctor tangle and fight with classic enemies such as the Daleks (Sacha Dawan), and reunited her and former companions Tegan Jovanka and Ace (Sophie Aldred).

Still, the biggest surprise and delight of the episode was its final scene, in which Whittaker’s Thirteenth Doctor tags in the next Doctor and finally regenerates — into David Tennant, not Gatwa.

Tennant played the Tenth doctor from 2005 to 2010. His run was widely praised both by critics and by fans. The Doctor most loved since the revival of sci-fi in 2005. His love of the series is well-documented and well-known.. However, Tennant was not expected to return as anticipated. Doctor WhoIt was the protagonist of the show, or someone who believed it possible.

It seems that we have all forgotten a key tenet. Doctor WhoYou can do it! It’s not impossible.

With Russell T. Davis, former showrunner, also returns to Doctor WhoFans hope that the Fourteenth Doctor will continue to entertain them with the same camp humor that first hooked them. 

It has already provided more than one callback. Tennant’s Fourteenth Doctor commented immediately upon his Sunday regeneration that he “knows.”[s]These teeth” is a reference to his first words as the Tenth Doctor. He used “what” multiple times in bafflement as a signature of his character.

The nostalgia will be further supported by Donna Noble, the Tenth Doctor’s former companion (Catherine Tate), is also backThe show. Despite Tennant’s and Tate’s return to Doctor Who Many fans assumed that it would be in a flashback or missing story. It’s possible that we could now find out who the Chiswick temp has been all these years.

After Tennant’s second series, Gatwa will be the Fifteenth Doctor in the series’ sonic screwdriver. Three special episodes will be featuring the Fourteenth Doctor.They will air next November. These episodes will celebrate Doctor Who‘s 60th anniversary. 

Notably, Announcement for MayGatwa, who was to portray the Doctor, omitted to name him the Fourteenth Doctor. This omission seems rather telling in retrospect — particularly when compared to the wording in other Doctors’ Casting Announcements. 

There wasn’t enough evidence at the time to draw any conclusions. The careful wording seemed to have given the Doctor enough room for his particular brand of mischief.
