The First Special Master Hearing was Plagued by Technical Difficulties

  • The Trump probe began on a chaotic note at the beginning of the first hearing.
  • All callers were left unmuted. They shouted over one another in the early hours of the hearing.
  • Dearie initially resisted some of the arguments from Trump during the hearing.

The opening of Raymond Dearie, special masterAs technical problems caused by the hearing, the beginning of the highly consequential proceedings sounded like a garbled white noise.

The Brooklyn courtroom staff struggled to get the audio correct as the volume for all audio callers wasn’t muted. This led to shouting matches in the beginning of the hearing, before any serious national security issues were addressed.

Dearie asked former President Donald Trump’s attorneys about their claims that they had already declassified documents taken. Mar-a-Lago.

According to Politico reporter Kyle CheneyParticipants who were not muted spoke simultaneously, creating havoc in the courtroom. One participant sang America the Beautiful while another repeated the phrase, “Trump is an criminal.” People shouted at one another to muffle themselves over the cacophony.

Trump’s lawyers claimed Tuesday that certain documents at Mar-a-Lago could be privileged in a court filing Trump handwritten notes.

Dearie was present at the hearing. They seemed to be in agreementThe government’s classification of documents was classified. That’s it.
