The FCC is taking action against spamming with ringless voicemails

Ringing voicemails are not something you’re accustomed to. In your inbox, put spam. Federal Communications Commission determinedThese silent voicemails fall under the same Telephone Consumer Protection Act rules (TCPA). forbid robocallsWithout consent. According to the FCC, companies must give your consent for these junk messages to be sent. Today’s ruling is effective.

According to the FCC, this finding is five years ago that marketers asked for exemptions from regulations governing ringless voicemails. All About the Message, along with two other petitioners, reportedly received “overwhelmingly negative” feedback from the public. The Commission stated that it receives “dozens” of voicemail complaints every year. Jessica Rosenworcel, FCC chair, proposed that the TCPA be extended to this spam in February.

As with all other Crackdown on robocallsHowever, voicemails may not stop. Spammers might find alternative ways to transmit these messages. However, the FCC is limited in its ability to control spam that originates outside of the US. However, this does establish firm boundaries inside the country — companies who flout the rules risk FCC action and customer lawsuits that could prove costly.
