Texas teacher and his staff were accused of refusing food for special needs students who ate their own feces

A Texas teacherTwo assistants and a 5-year old boy with special needs was allegedly kept away from him for so long, that he began eating his own feces after being starved.

Melody LaPointe, 47, as well as Tarah Tinney (33), and Augusta Costlow (27), were arrested earlier this week for abandoning or endangering children in relation to the April 2021 incident. 

They are accused of placing the boy under a bridge. To an isolation roomABC 13 reported on the Liberty Independent School district facility.

Melody LaPointe, 47, and teaching assistants Tarah Tinney, 33, and Augusta Costlow, 27, face charges after a special needs boy was isolated, forcing him to eat his own feces and drink his urine, according to reports.

Authorities claimed that they deprived him of food and forced him to ingest his own urine. 

Tinney and Costlow both resigned, and LaPointe is the principal teacher in the classroom. She works for another school district which also placed her on leave, according to the report. 

Liberty ISD was notified and contacted the authorities. 

A district spokesperson stated that they immediately reported the matter and CPS (Child Protective Services) removed educators from the classroom and conducted an extensive investigation. 

“Based on our investigation, the educators were reported to the State Board for Educator CertificationThe spokesperson said that they shared their results with law enforcement officers.
