Erik ten Hag states that Donny van der Beek, a midfielder for Manchester United, must keep fit if he wants to play games.
Van de Beek (25), signed for United from Ajax during the summer 2020, but has had difficulty getting into Old Trafford’s First-team ever since he joined the club.
The Dutchman was sent on loan to Everton last season to gain more minutes on the pitch, but failed to make an impact for Frank Lampard’s side.
His last appearance came when he was brought on as a substitute in United’s 2-1 win over Liverpool this season and has not been in the squad since the 1-0 victory over Leicester due to injury. Ten Hag says Van de Beek won’t cement his place in the team if he is consistently on the sidelines.
“He had a muscle injury, so it will take a couple of weeks,” Ten Hag said of his injury. “He’s now back on the training grass, so he’s outside doing his work but still individual, he’s not returning to team training, so we have to wait for that moment.
“He has to be fit. This is clearly his disadvantage.
