Volkner Mobil, a German manufacturer, is owned by Gerhard Volkner (married couple) and Stephanie Volkner. They make custom luxury RVs.

Gerhard Volkner founded the company after he felt unsatisfied by his RV that his parents had given him.

Stephanie Volkner, an Insider interviewee, said that he made one by himself using the truck chassis.

She said that he first displayed it at a trade fair in 1997. It took off.

Volkner explained to Insider that camping used to be about brushing your teeth with 20 others and going to the toilet behind you. 

Camping is about freedom and flexibility. She said that you can make your own bolognese and go to a fancy restaurant for dinner the next day.

She explained that the RV has its own garage, which can store a full-sized car under the cabin. There are no restrictions on the interior space. 

You can extend the garage to make it a patio. The company also offers a retractable wall that the company calls “wall out” and allows you to create additional living space.

The apartment also includes a fully-equipped kitchen, living space, and bedroom.

Volkner explained that, despite their size, RV-owners can park them on regular campsites or pitches.

Stephanie explained that RVs are totally self-sufficient and can hold anywhere from 750 to 1,000 liters fresh water.

“Motorhomes must be built as if they were airplanes. Nothing can go wrong during flight. “That’s why we have two of every critical unit,” she explained.

The December 2021 issue of the Industry Association Survey of manufacturersIt was revealed that 2021 was a record-breaking year for RV shipping, with 600,240 wholesale shipment, an increase of 19% over 2017.

Volkner stated that “we get more orders than can be fulfilled” and added that it usually takes two years for customers to receive their RV after they have made an initial inquiry.

Volkner stated that the cheapest Volkner Mobil version costs 425,000 Euros. Most models range from 1.1 million to 1.8 million euros, or around $1.07 million-$1.75 million.

Volkner Mobil has RVs available for sale all over the world, but its current focus is Europe. 

Volkner explained that the company has a diverse customer base, which includes politicians, professional athletes, and military personnel.

She said that entrepreneurs are the ones who travel most often.

Volkner stated that most customers are satisfied using the standard model. But, the company can also install any special requests.

She stated that “Basically, anything is possible, but most customers don’t want any frills.” 

“Of course we can install a Whirlpool for someone who wants it, but most customers prefer to go to a spa. She added that it was less work.

She mentioned that additional items have been added by the company, including a roof deck, pull-out kitchen, beer taps, storage space for boats, and even storage space.

Volkner and her husband also tested the motorhomes. Volkner stated that they would not be as good if it wasn’t for Volkner.
