Stephen King reveals the meaning of Mr. Harrigan’s phone’ is really what it means

It is not always easy to understand messages from the dead. This is even more true when they are sent in the form text messages.

Fans Stephen KingMost likely, you will have seen the movie adaptation of Mr. Harrigan’s phoneOn Netflix over the weekend — a story about a lonely boy, Craig (Jaeden Martell), who befriends an elderly billionaire called Mr Harrigan (Donald Sutherland), introducing the man to the world of smartphones before he eventually passes away.

Is that the hook? Craig discovers that Mr Harrigan can still communicate with him beyond his grave by placing his phone in his pocket.

King’s novella and the movie are both cryptic in nature. The meaning of these messages is not always clear.

King decided to take to Twitter on Wednesday to ask for people’s best guesses.

It is worth noting that Craig guessed the last message, “CCC ST”, to be “Craig”, after calling on My Harrigan to care for something in the world of living. King’s tweet provoked a variety of guesses by fans.

As promised, the author came back to give his interpretation the next day.

It seems logical, doesn’t? Mr Harrigan is sending Craig his love from beyond the grave, but he’s also expressing discomfort — either from the effort he’s going to to respond to Craig’s messages, his effort to solve Craig’s IRL problems, or both. He tells Craig to stop asking for too many things.

How come the messages are coded? King clarified that as well.
