Google has opened signups to the public preview of its new Home app. To get in on the action, all you need is an invite from the Home app on iOS or Android.
The Google Home app’s new design was unveiled last monthThe new version of Home features a revamped user interface and useful tabs to make it easy to access devices and automation. To sign up, head on over to Home’s settings menu and search for “Public Preview” under “General,” assuming it is live for you.
Once you are accepted to the program, you will see a notification that the app will shortly update to Public Preview. To view the new features when they are ready to use, tap on the button “Join Public Preview”.
You can expect some bugs because it is a public preview. Google invites users to report bugs and provide feedback via the “Submit Feedback” button within the app.

You’ll find a number of useful new features in the redesigned app, including “Favorites,” which lets you quickly open your favorites cameras to view live streams. You can also access groups of devices that are similar to the one you’re using, like the “Spaces”. Best smart light bulbs.
There are however a few. Problems that are known(opens new tab)The public preview. It’s currently not possible to favorite your automations. However, Google promises to make this feature available in the near future. This feature is only available for your actions and devices. The new camera controller experience is not compatible with older cameras. Additionally, the redesigned Nest app is not compatible with some older Nest Protect devices.
Google warns that the app could revert back to its previous experience upon restarting. However, the public preview experience for all subsequent starts will be restored.
