However, Hammers can feel aggrieved the goal was given after Kyle Walker-Peters’ foot looked to be over the line for his throw-in.
West Ham was made worse by the fact that Peter Bankes, West Ham’s referee, was absent Jarrod Bowen‘s way as he looked to close Perraud down.
Bowen – and the rest of his teammates – instantly appealed to Bankes that he blocked him from tackling the Frenchman.

VAR, despite their protests (and the foul throw-in), allowed the strike to go ahead.
Speaking of the goal, talkSPORT’s Ian Abraham said: “West Ham are really unhappy about the goal scored by Romain Perraud.
“He picked up the ball after West Ham failed to clear it.
“The referee got in the way basically, that’s why West Ham are unhappy.
“Referee Peter Bankes got in the way of Jarrod Bowen, who would have put a challenge in on Perraud.
“Perraud then took it forward and hit a shot that was deflected from 25 yards out past Fabianski into the corner of the net.”
West Ham had a frustrating first half, going into the break with a goal down after having missed a number key opportunities.
Gianluca Scaacca, an Italian striker, could have scored a hat trick while Lucas Paqueta made it three.
Bankes was able to get an equalizer, however, thanks to the Hammers.
After a brief one-two with Said Benrahma in the penalty area to the right, the England international turned inside for a more satisfying strike.
The draw leaves Ralph Hasenhuttl’s Saints still in the relegation zone, placed 18th, while David Moyes’ Hammers are 11th.
