‘She-Hulk: Attorney at Law’ unveils Hulk’s son, Skaar; what does this mean for MCU?

She-Hulk, Attorney at Law is over for its first season. Some big revelations follow. Hulk, who isn’t alive, returns from Sakaar toward the end. Skaar, his son, is with him. Skaar is part of Marvel comics. But this is his first appearance. He also has a dark backstory.

Skaar: Who are you?
While there is not much shown in the show, the comics have depicted who Hulk’s son is. After staying away from Earth and fighting in Sakaar’s gladiator arena, Hulk falls in love with Caiera the Oldstrong, who is his fellow warrior. She eventually conceives Hulk’s child but is soon killed in an act of sabotage, which results in Hulk’s quest for vengeance on Earth. While he doesn’t know that the child survived the attack and is able to grow up in a tough environment in Marvel Universe, Hulk does not realize this. He was one of the MCU’s most tough warriors.

Skaar’s Strengths
His parents were warriors and he inherits their abilities. He has his father’s gamma-powered strength and healing. But unlike his father, he can’t grow stronger as he grows angry. He can also transform into Hulk-like human, which shows that he is still a child beneath all his muscles. He inherits his mother’s capabilities of being able to tap into the Old Power, which allows him to take energy from a planet’s tectonic plates and even control volcanos.

Skaar and Planet Hulk’s Origins
Greg Pak and John Romita Jr., artist and writer, created the hulk to mark his 2007 World War Hulk crossover. The latter is part of Pak’s Hulk Saga that began with Planet Hulk in 2005. To protect the planet from his wrath, Hulk was banished by the Illuminati from Earth. Hulk began his life as an enslaved gladiator on Planet Hulk. He then led an uprising against Sakaarian emperor. After all the chaos Hulk wore a crown and ruled with Queen Caiera.

But the newlyweds had a brief period of joy before Hulk’s spacecraft, which crashed when he arrived in Sakaar, exploded. It killed Caiera and destroyed Sakaar’s capital city. Hulk believes this was caused by the Illuminati, so he gathers a group interplanetary refugees, his Warbound and attacks Earth. He later discovers that one of his warriors had sabotaged his ship, and that his son survived.

In a sequel Skaar: Son of Hulk, the child’s adventures are followed up. Due to his lineage, Skaar transforms into a young adult quickly, and that’s why he can survive the harsh Sakaarian environment. Skaar even kills Axeman Bone, his enemy, and decides that he will come to Earth to kill his father, who left him. After their union, Hulk becomes more accepting and Skaar accepts Earth as his new home. Despite his tragic tale, he does quite well.

MCU’s adaptation of Planet Hulk
Thor: Ragnarok has parts in which Hulk travels from Sakaar to become a gladiator while being accompanied by Miek, Korg. He is still a celebrity because the film depicts him as on vacation, not exile. He doesn’t even take up the throne even when he and Thor speed along the Grandmaster’s downfall by the time they escape the planet.

MCU does not reveal much about Skaar. SheHulk: Attorney of Law, however, reveals that Hulk has been in touch over the years with Sakaar. In one of the episodes, Hulk returns from Earth to finish a unfinished business after a Sakaarian messenger arrives. This included the reunion with his long-lost son.

We aren’t sure why Hulk was called back to Sakaar, whether he had to confront his son or to help the unrest following the Grandmaster’s downfall. Ragnarok shows how Sakaar demonstrates that time works differently on that planet. That means he could be gone for years after his five-episode absence. These questions will be answered in future projects, hopefully.

Skaar will next appear where?
Marvel has not yet confirmed that the father-son team could be a part She-Hulk Season 2 but it is possible. He could also be a part of 2024’s Captain America: New World Order. Hulk and Tim Blake Nelson will play The Leader.

The possibility of a Hulk movie may be on the horizon, but K.E.V.I.N. says it will not include She-Hulk. Some rumours also say that a World War Hulk movie is on the horizon so this confirms one’s suspicions. Having said that, there won’t be a direct adaptation of Planet Hulk or World War Hulk in the MCU because Hulk is in a better place. As the comics depict, the comics hulk was full of rage and pain.

However, if they do the film, some elements might be adopted. It will also mention questions surrounding Skaar’s origins and reveal and even show the current state of life on Sakaar. Skaar may even follow in his father’s footsteps and become the version of Hulk that the world needs him to be.
