Netizens were furious that Seventeen was compared to BTS.
BTS’ ARMY and SEVENTEEN’s Carats went on full rage after an interviewer compared both the bands.
Fans deemed the question unnecessary and asked SEVENTEEN, a K-Pop boy band, a difficult question in an interview. American radio station Sirius XM host was criticized after the question.
SEVENTEEN’s members including Vernon, Seungkwan, and DK were being interviewed by a host who asked them, “I mean starting the band there’s no way you expected that ‘’okay we’re gonna be out there just like BTS. We’ll be at the same level as BTS.”
Vernon who was leading in answering the questions replied, “When we debuted, BTS wasn’t the BTS today, you know. So yeah, it’s really crazy what we’re doing right now, where we’re right now.”
It didn’t take time for the video clip from the interview to go viral and many fans expressed their anger towards the same.

Sharing the video, a fan wrote, “Oh this just pissed me off… Vernon handled that so well”
“it’s disrespectful to bts” it’s also very disrespectful to svt and any other kpop group who constantly get the same stereotypical questions bc western media doesn’t care enough to look into the groups they interview and ask them real questions about their group,” another fan wrote.
Vernon was highly praised for his ability to answer the question well. Some BTS fans thought that Vernon’s response was too tame. DynamiteIt was rude to sing.
Interviewers from Western countries should stop inviting BTS into interviews. It’s hella disrespectful. SVT were put in a difficult spot today, but they managed it well. Note to army personnel: Don’t try to make other people’s words fit your story. He was not disrespectful in any way!

Reminder that in 2015, 2 year old bts from a small label was already topping Korean charts, charting on BB 200 (no physicals or Friday release), was the 2nd best selling group that year selling 2/3 big 3 companies, & had a viral song on YT (1st non big 3 mv to hit 100m views) pic.twitter.com/nxmOXdUgwm

“when we debuted, bts weren’t the same bts they are today” that group debuted in 2015 and bts were already outselling groups from the big 3 during that year so what exactly is he saying..?? Talking just for the sake of talking. pic.twitter.com/Cw3sq9I5Go
