Researchers note that future studies will need to be more cautious due to side effects. However, they are optimistic about the subjects’ progress.
The psilocybin treatment was done in designated rooms that were designed to ease participants. A therapist was on hand until the psychedelic effects subsided and the individuals were free to go. This took anywhere from six to eight hours.
