Saquon Barkley was forced to take his helmet.
The Giants superstar running back exited Sunday’s game against the PackersAfter falling hard on his right shoulder, he was forced to leave London in the third quarter. But as NFL Network reported, he wanted back in the game so badly, he had to be forced into the locker room by the team’s medical staff.
That sojourn didn’t last long.
Barkley returned on the Giants’ next offensive series.
“We’re a group of gritty guys. That’s all I can say,” Barkley later said. “These guys are some tough competitors. Every week, I look forward to going to war against these guys. When you see a guy get banged up or when I get banged up, I know that they’re going to fight for me, so I got to go out there and try and fight for them.”
Barkley was a decoy on his first playback. Matt Breida run. He wasn’t bait on the second down play. Quarterback Daniel JonesBarkley crossed the street and he then changed angles so smooth, Packers safety Darnell Savage was left falling to the turf in Barkley’s 41-yard wake.
“There’s no doubt what he brings to our offense. Any time he’s on the field is special and unique,” Jones said. “So, to have him back at that point in the game was a little bit of a lift for us. It was indeed a huge win.
