1. Rising stars in real estate

There is no shortage of connections between Wall Street and the real estate industry.

Blackstone’s or notBig bets on warehousesSingle-family homes, financial firms You should rethink how you use your office space.Wall Streeters, or? Spend millions on expensive homesDeep ties exist between the worlds.

We thought it only right to highlight Insider’s. The third-annual listing of rising stars in realty

Insider went through over 100 nominations, and also analyzed the deep Rolodexes of our reporters to identify the top 30 young professionals working in residential and commercial realty.

Hana R. Albers, Insider’s real estate deputy editor, was my guide to what stands out on this year’s list. Two of the main themes — the future of the office and home-pricing algorithms — are near and dear to Wall Street’s heart.

This is a topic of ongoing debate among executives at financial companies. Many want employees to return to work while others are trying to figure out how a hybrid approach will impact company culture. The second boils down to using tech to automate, innovate, a crucial, but often costly, part of the company, which Wall Street is familiar with.

Hana selected a few people Hana felt were particularly relevant to our audience, even though the entire list was impressive.

Megan LeMense, a 34-year-old former WeWorker, is looking to the future of her office as she works at Raise Commercial Real Estate. Sam Stone, 34 years old, is also looking towards the future. He particularly wants one with more digitization. At the embattled iBuyer OpenDoor, he is the director of product management and pricing.

Blackstone would not be on any real-estate list if it didn’t include Blackstone. Kanaai, the youngest member of this class at the young age of 23 is focusing on affordable housing investments for the large investment firm.

Our list doesn’t only include those who make a lot of money. Maya Abood (34), is a housing and planning analyst for the City of Los Angeles Housing Department. She works on everything, from an eviction defense plan to establishing a community housing plan.
