Rescue Beagle gets his first toy and won’t let go

Froggy was comforted by rescuers who gave him a bed, a plush frog and toys for his pleasure upon reaching the Humane Society of Broward County.

Froggy was thrilled to have his first toys. He grabbed his new friend with enthusiasm and wouldn’t let go.

According to Susan Leonti (a digital marketing consultant at the Humane Society of Broward County), he whimpered with delight for hours as he held his plush frog in one’s mouth.

Froggy is one of the 4,000 rescues from a Virginia breeding center. The Humane Society of Broward County offered their assistance to find new homes for pets, as did 120 other shelters.

Leonti said that the beagles arrived at the shelter with only numbers tattooed on both their ears. “When we got to Froggy’s kennel, he was holding a stuffed frog in his jaws that he wouldn’t let go of. We named him after his beloved toy because we were so touched by his response.

Froggy used his pet stuffed animal to pacify him. Rescuers would often find Froggy inside his kennel with it between his teeth. Froggy would gladly swap out his plush toy for another one when it was being washed. However, as soon as the toy was cleaned up, he quickly returned to his favorite frog.

Froggy eventually found his forever family and left the humane society. The timid puppy grew up and became a confident, athletic firecracker. Froggy realized that there’s so much to be enjoyed in the world and has no fear of it being taken away.

Because of the support and commitment of so many animal lovers, Froggy doesn’t have to worry about being left alone. He was afraid of losing his only comfort item.
