Report says Ukrainian Website Blocks After Being Bombarded with Requests from Surrendering Russian Soldiers

Sunday’s ban by the Russian government for users to access a Ukrainian website encouraging surrender of Russian military personnel was issued. 

A site called Hochu Zhit received over 2,000 requests from Russian military personnel to leave their posts and surrender to Ukrainian forces. According to the Kyiv Independent,

Hochu Zhit, translated from Russian, means “I want live.” The Ukrainian government-run website promises to follow Geneva conventions in the treatment and care of prisoners of war. If surrendered via the site’s affiliated hotline, it offers three meals a days, legal support, medical attention, and three meals a night to Russian military personnel. 

HotlineThe first announcement was made by the Ukrainian Ministry of Defense on September 19th, two days before Russian President Vladimir Putin. The mobilization of 300,000.Many of these people have been drafted — to the battlefield.

Sunday Roskomsvoboda projectA non-governmental Russian anticensorship organization called ”’ reported that the Russian Prosecutor General’s Office had blocked access to the site.
