Family and friends who were among the victims of Thursday’s shooting rampage in Raleigh, North CarolinaThey are still grieving the loss of their lives in the senseless violence committed by a 15 year-old suspect.
According to WNCN, Lorri Freeman, Wake County District Attorney, filed a juvenile complaint against the suspect. He is still in critical condition and the intention to transfer the case the Supreme Court to charge him as an adult.
The 15-year old is accused of shooting five people within two miles of Raleigh’s Hedingham neighborhood. This neighborhood is a middle-class community of golfers and runs alongside the Neuse river Greenway. It happened just after 5 p.m.

Gabriel Torres, 29
Gabriel Torres, a 29-year old officer in Raleigh Police Department, was married to the father of his two-year-old girl. He was also a U.S. Marine. According to authorities, he was on duty and headed into work when he was shot.
Torres lived in Osprey Cove Drive where the Shooter allegedly opened fire.

Raleigh police are unsure if Torres responded to the shooting when he was off duty, but they have not confirmed this.

According to a GoFundMe for Torres entitled “Benefit for Officer Torres’ Family”, Back The Blue NC will host a fundraiser where 100% of the proceeds will be donated to his family.
“Gabriel Torres embodied the core values of the Raleigh Police Department — service, courage, fairness, integrity and compassion,” Carl Bailey, president of the Teamsters Law Enforcement League, said in a Friday statement. “From his time in the military to his service as a law enforcement professional, Officer Torres lived his entire adult life as a hero and dedicated guardian — both of his country and his community. All Teamsters can follow his example and honor him.
James Roger Thompson, 16
Thompson, the brother of the 15 year-old gunman, was a junior at Knightdale high school in Knightdale (North Carolina). His brother was also a sophomore at the school.
Raleigh police in North Carolina responded on Thursday to an active shooting and instructed residents to “remain inside their homes”.

In a Friday statement, Keith Richardson, Principal of Knightdale High School said that “it is an unexpected loss and we are saddened.” “Our condolences, thoughts, and prayers go out to James’ family, the other victims, their families and all who have been impacted by yesterday’s events.”
After the shooting, students who needed support were offered counseling by their school and district.
Nicole Connors, 52
Tracey Howard, Nicole Connors’ husband described Nicole as a 52 year-old woman. ABC11As “a fine, loving individual” and “bubbly.”

He said that everybody in the neighbourhood knew her.
Tracey Connors described Nicole Connors as a bubbly woman who knows everyone.

Tracey Howard found Nicole, and Sammy, their dog, shot to death on their front lawn. ABC11 reported that a neighbor was also injured in the shooting and was lying on the ground next to the victims.
Tracey said, “Feel like you’re just in a daze right here.”
Susan Karnatz, 49
Susan “Sue” Karnatz is a runner, wife, and mother. Tom Karnatz, her husband, said that she also had Lucy, a dog who she walked every morning.
We had big plans together/ and we had small plans together. We had big plans together/ And we had plans together to get through the day. We had plans with the boys/ and we had plans as empty nesters. We shared plans for the future. Always together. In a Friday Facebook posting, Karnatz said that now those plans have been abandoned.

He continued his post with: “We have large memories together/ But we have few memories together. We share memories of joyful occasions/ and we have common memories of ordinary times. We have shared memories from before the boys/ and many, many memories with them. Memories together will last forever.
Mary Marshall, 35
Mary Marshall was a dog-owner and got engaged to Robert Steele.
“This woman was my everything…” Steele wrote in the description of a GoFundMe page for funeral expenses titled. “Mary Marshall.” “She meant so many things to me, her parents, and sister. We need your help to remember her as she deserves.

Marcille Lynn Gardner was also injured and is currently in critical condition.

Three hours after the gunman had been allegedly “contained”, police took him into custody.
