Terrance Ruth was defeated by Mary-Ann Baldwin, Raleigh’s incumbent mayor. DaQuanta Colpeland, a public-health advocate, was also on ballot. 

The state’s polls close at 7:30 PM Eastern Standard Time.

Raleigh mayoral elections do not have a political component. Baldwin is a self-identified Democrat while Ruth is a Self-Identified Liberal. 

Baldwin was mayor of Raleigh in 2019 before serving five terms on the Raleigh City Council.
