Qatar Sports Investment purchases a minority stake of Sporting Braga from PSG owners

Qatar Sports Investment (QSI), have acquired a minor stake in Portuguese side Sporting Braga.

QSI has owned Paris Saint-Germain since 2011. In their 10-year custodianship, the Ligue 1 side have gone on to lift 29 trophies — over double in the club’s previous history. QSI also bought a stake in Belgian top-flight team KAS Eupen.

It continues a growing trend in European football, where a combined 20 clubs from Italy’s Serie AMulti-club models include La Liga and Ligue 1 in France.

Speaking on the announcement, the chairman of QSI Nasser Al-Khelaifi said: “Qatar Sports Investments is proud to invest in leading sports businesses and brands around the world, enabling them to reach their full potential.

“Portugal is a country founded on football – with some of the most passionate fans and one of the best talent systems in the world.
