Pelosi Attack Story Retracted from NBC

NBC has retracted a story yesterday that featured the attack on Paul Pelosi. It was the subject of conspiracy theories and was aired by NBC. Segment of “Today” on the TV show“Did not meet NBC News reporting requirements.”  

The report by NBC News National Correspondent Miguel Almaguer, which relied on anonymous sourcing, erroneously indicated Paul Pelosi answered the door to police officers prior to being attacked and gave no signal to law enforcement that he was in danger, instead walking back toward his assailant and away from police.

“The decision to remove the segment was made after it was determined that the main source for information was unreliable regarding question of the conditions that the police encountered at the house when they arrived,” an insider spoke to.

NBC specifically questioned what the police saw and how far away the attacker was from the front door.

Almaguer’s reporting was contradictory Officials’ statements about the incident — specifically, that Pelosi was struggling with the attacker when they arrived and entered the home, having responded to his 911 call. 

“It’s not clear why Pelosi didn’t try to flee the scene or tell responding officers that Pelosi was in distress. The Washington Post reportedAlmaguer said the following in the now-removed original clip: “We still do not know what transpired between Mr. Pelosi’s and the suspect for those 30 minutes they were inside that house prior to police arrived.”

The attack on the husband of Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi has been the subject of intense scrutiny and unverified conspiracy theories — including that 82-year-old Paul Pelosi knew his attacker, David DePape, 42, or that the two were engaged in a romantic or sexual relationship prior to the assault, which This assertion has been disproved by federal facts..

Almaguer’s report was quickly taken up by Conservative commentatorsThe report was viewed by many as proof that the unfounded theories are true.
