Parents group says Mark Zuckerberg and Bill Gates are funding the woke education agenda.

Many of the biggest philanthropic groups in the world funnel millions of dollars into schools to support their mission. Left-wing educationOne parent activist group says that students are being disadvantaged by these initiatives.

Parents Fighting EducationThe grassroots charity assisting parents with resources to combat “indoctrination inside the classroom” investigated five of the most prominent foundations that were giving grants.

The study, “Cracked foundations,” revealed that these organizations donated more than $200 million to 70 school district across the country between 2017 and 2021. According to the parents group, students in certain districts were failing in math and reading. Yet grants were given to promote equitable grading, Social Emotional Learning, Critical Race Theory, and Social Emotional Learning.

The Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation and the Chan Zuckerberg Initiative are the focus of the study. The study examined data from the last four years, and primarily focused on Kellogg Foundation (and the Windward Fund). LIBERAL DARK NETWORK HAS RECORDED MORE THAN $1.5B IN ANONYMOUS DONATIONS FOR LEFT-WING CAUSES 2021

The group examined 990 tax returns, publicly available documents, and FOIA request records to find that the Battle Creek Public Schools and Denver Public Schools received the largest amount of dollars. The range of $1 million to $8 millions received by eight other districts in Florida and Texas, Kentucky, Ohio, California, and Ohio was between $1 million to $8,000,000.

W.K. donated more than $31 million to Battle Creek public schools. The Kellogg Foundation granted over $31 million to Battle Creek public schools in four years, with the stated goal of “transforming” them “to address structural biases and segregation.”

The Gates Foundation also gave millions to Denver Public Schools’ Foundation, the Baltimore City Public Schools’ Fund for Educational Excellence, the New York City Department of Education’s Fund for Public Schools Inc, and the Tulare County Office of Education “to implement equity-focused programming such as equitable grading,” according to the report.

Bob Hughes, K-12 education director at the Gates Foundation, said that the foundation wanted to “rebuild public education” by “leading in equity,” according the study.

Besides equitable grading, Social and emotional learningThis was another area of focus for these foundations’ giving.

Parents Defending Education criticized the $9 million that three foundations were giving to consultants who are experts in social and emotional learning (Collaborative for Academic Social and Emotional Learning, CASEL) as one example.

The Gates Foundation describes the learning philosophy as fostering “strong relationships and equitable learning environments attuned to and sustaining of students’ identity and cultural context in order to increase postsecondary success.”

The parents group however stated that the teaching philosophy had changed. Implement race and gender ideology

Last month The Nation’s Report Card A report was released that showed math and reading scores had declined significantly during the years schools were closed due to the coronavirus epidemic for fourth through eighth graders. Reading scores for 9-year olds fell to their lowest level in over 30 years.

Parents Defending Education President Nicole Neily, Founder, said that the study showed that school districts continue to ask for taxpayers more money despite lower academic standards. However, they also push progressive political ideas.

“On a regular basis, PDE is asked ‘where do these programs come from,’ so we decided to investigate. This is not an organic, bottom-up effort. It is a coordinated strategy driven by progressive foundations. This is merely the tip of the iceberg – but at a time when school districts continue to pass nine-figure bonds asking for money, and families are hit up via GoFundMe campaigns for school supplies (not to mention the Billions of dollars that were sent to schools via ESSER funding), American taxpayers deserve to know what’s taking place behind the schoolhouse gates – and how these foundation-driven spending priorities have impacted student achievement,” she said in a statement to Fox News Digital.

Math scores saw their largest decreases ever from 2019 to 2022, while reading scores dropped to levels not seen since 1992 for fourth and eighth graders across the country, according to the National Center for Education Statistics.

Some foundations mentioned in this study refute the notion that these programs hinder students’ learning.

Fox News Digital was informed by the Wallace Foundation that research has shown that SEL can improve student academic performance.

The group shared concerns about “academic achievement, the well being of all students, and the negative effects of the pandemic,” but said that they support students academically.

“Research suggests that an emphasis on SEL can enhance, rather than detract from, schools’ core mission of promoting academic achievement and attainment. Responding to the criticism, they stated that strong evidence supports the claim that principals receive better support and training.

The foundation stated that their work with districts in social and emotional education aims to assist them in using data and evidence to promote student success based on their definition of equity.

Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation defended their grants saying that they helped students realize “their full capacity without race, ethnoity, and socioeconomic standing serving as predictors educational attainment and financial mobility and security.”

“We are committed in working with schools, districts to improve outcomes of all students, especially Black students and Latino students, and students from low income backgrounds,” the foundation stated in an email to Fox News Digital.

They also shared concerns over Nation’s Report Card and considered it only to “reinforce the urgency” of their work.

“Over the next decade, our K-12 strategy will be focused on working with partners to improve student mathematics outcomes by increasing motivation and engagement in the math classroom. Teachers will also be supported to deliver high-quality instructional material that will engage students, make math more relevant and useful in their daily lives. Our urgency is reinforced by the NAEP data that shows a sharp decline of math achievement in nearly all subgroups. The pandemic has made it worse and left millions of students behind. “We believe that working together with educators and schools, districts, local partners, and we can improve the student outcomes,” they wrote.

The Windward Fund also contests the claim of the study that COVID-19 funds were used for these programs.

“In 2020, Windward Fund’s fiscally sponsored project Student Emergency Food Access Fund was established to support school districts in continuing to feed children during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic. Contributions to school nutrition programs were used to feed families and children who had lost their schools due to food insecurity. Fox News Digital spoke out to confirm that none of the funding was used for curriculum programming.
