Pablo Mari will be out at least 2 months after the stabbing

ArsenalPablo Mari, defender, is likely to be out at least two more months after he was Stitched in Milan shopping centre.

A Monza statement on Friday said: “General surgery and trauma team specialists of the Niguarda hospital in Milan this morning carried out surgery to reconstruct two injured muscles on Pablo Mari’s back.

“The surgery went well and a hospital stay of two or three days is expected. After being discharged, the player will be free to begin his rehabilitation. This type of muscle injury usually requires two months of rest before you can resume physical activities.”

Mari, on the attack, told an Italian outlet Gazzetta dello Sport: “Today I was lucky, because I saw a person die in front of me.”

Reports say that a 46-year-old man began stabbing customers, including Mari. Five were injured, and two others are believed to have sustained serious injuries.

The suspect was taken to the local police.

After spending the first year of his loan period at Arsenal, Mari signed with Arsenal in 2020. After making 12 Premier League appearances, he spent the majority this calendar year on loan at Udinese before moving to Monza.

He has scored once in eight Serie A games he played for Monza.
