Pablo Mari, Arsenal defender, is stabbed in Milan shopping center

ArsenalPablo Mari, defender, was attacked in a shopping center this afternoon.

Mari, who is currently on loan to Serie A side Monza was among five people attacked in the supermarket in Milanofiori In Assago. This town is in Milan. After minor injuries, Mari, 29, was not believed to be seriously injured at the time of writing.

He is currently being treated at the hospital.

Monza chief executive officer Adriano Galliani said: “Dear Pablo, we’re all here for you and your family. We love you. Keep fighting. You’re a warrior and you’ll be better soon.”

An Arsenal statement said: “We are all shocked to hear the dreadful news about the stabbing in Italy, which has put a number of people in hospital including our on-loan centre-back Pablo Mari.

“We have been in contact with Pablo’s agent who has told us he’s in hospital and is not seriously hurt.

“Our thoughts are with Pablo and the other victims of this dreadful incident.”

Mikel Arteta, Arsenal manager, added: “I’ve just found out. We’ve been in touch with his relatives. He’s in hospital but seems to be OK. We’re having a briefing now. We’ll be in touch and hopefully, he will be OK.”

Reports say that a 46-year-old man began stabbing customers, including Mari. Five were injured, and two others are believed to have sustained serious injuries.

The suspect was taken to the local police.

After spending the first year of his loan period at Arsenal, Mari signed with Arsenal in 2020. After making 12 Premier League appearances, he spent the majority this calendar year on loan at Udinese before moving to Monza.

He has scored once in eight Serie A games he played for Monza.

Mari was previously represented Manchester CityGimnastic Flamengo, Gimnastic, and Mallorca.
