An attorney representing several families whose children were injured or killed in the Nov. 30, 2021 shooting Oxford High School in MichiganThursday was argued that school staff had ignored warning signs of the shooter for months.

Ethan Crumbley was just 15 when he allegedly began to rob. Four students were shot and killedIn the days and months leading up to the shooting, he injured several others at the school, took disturbing photos, wrote assignment answers that were concerning teachers, and viewed images and videos of bullets on his smartphone.

“Today, the teacher is looking at videos on his smartphone of a gunman shooting down people. It looks like a movie sequence and not security footage/a true event. However, it is definitely concerning when you consider some of his other behavior,” Shawn Hopkins, a teacher, wrote to Shawn Hopkins in an email. Shawn Hopkins was named in Ven Johnson’s lawsuit against Oxford school staff.

Nicholas Ejak, Dean for Students, and Hopkins met with Crumbley, his parents and four other charges of involuntary killing in order to discuss the graphic drawings he made just hours before the fatal rampage. During the meeting, the suspect convinced them that the worrying drawings were meant for a “videogame”.
