Candidates for Oregon’s 5th Congressional district

Chavez DeRemer is one. Many Hispanic conservative Hispanic womenShe ran for office in 2022. She was Happy Valley mayorFrom 2010 to 2018. From 2010 to 2018.

Chavez DeRemer won against her GOP challengers in five-way primaries, winning more than 40% of total vote. 

McLeod-SkinnerShe is a small-business owner and an emergency response coordinator. Prior to her run for Congress, she worked as a manager in the public sector in Bosnia and Kosovo. The 55-year old candidate also ServeFor eight years, Santa Clara’s city council has been serving as its president. 

McLeod Skinner would be the winner if she had won. First openly lesbian person in OregonTo become a member of Congress. There are currently 11 LGBTQ individuals serving openly in Congress. Three of them are lesbians. 

McLeod–Skinner defeated seven-term Schrader in Oregon’s Democratic primary for the 5th Congressional District. He won 56.9% to his 42.7%.

Voting history in Oregon’s 5th Congressional District

Oregon’s 5th Congressional Region is located west of the state. It includes Bend and Portland suburbs. 

The district was redrawn and backed Biden by approximately 10 percentage points over Donald Trump. Redesigned to include many strongholds of liberal and conservative OregoniansIn redistricting following 2020 Census, it is competitive. 

The money race

According to OpenSecretsChavez DeRemer raised $2.2million and spent $1.9million. She had $317652 cash left to spend as of October 19. McLeod Skinner, her opponent, raised $3.2million, spent $2.8million, and had $404,404 cash as of October 19.

In November, super-PACs, national party commissions and other noncandidate groups merged to create the following: SpendApproximately $12.9 Million was spent on advocacy for or against candidates during this race, as well as the primaries.
