One Extreme Couponer’s Top Deals for Beatin’ Inflation

  • Hayley Bennett runs @that_coupon_chick on Instagram, a page that focuses on coupons and deals. She recommends Ibotta, her favorite app.
  • Couponing became her full-time job after she started saving diapers by couponing.
  • Mary Beth Gahan told her this story.

I love to help people find coupons, clearance deals, and ways to save money.

My Instagram account was created in 2020. I wanted to share the great deals I was receiving with people. My boyfriend said to me, “Why not just put it online so people interested in it can see it?” It just kinda grew naturally from there.

My passion for finding coupons was born out of a need. I was a young mom and broke college student in 2016.

Everything was very expensive, so I wanted to make as much money as possible. I didn’t know I would end up couponing as much as I did. I thought I would just use coupons to save money. This made me realize how important this could be for people and how much money I could save.

This way I saved money and was able to become financially independent.

I started 2021 with around 2,000 followers. I had 10,000 followers at the start of this year. Today, I have 23,000. It was a side job, but now it is my main job. It’s great. It is amazing.

There are many coupons out there. You just have to find them.

When I get up, I will check my apps to see if rebates have been applied. If they have, I check with CVS, Target, Publix, and Publix to confirm. Next, I look online for coupons. All you need to do is Google the brand name and the coupon that you are looking for. Google does an excellent job of finding any relevant information.

Next, I visit the store to find the deals and take photos and videos. Then I post the deals to my Facebook page.

Newspapers are no longer the best place to find coupons

Since Covid’s inception, more companies have been pulling coupons from the Sunday paper insert. It is also difficult to find Smart Source inserts. You can however, get the coupons digitally via the Target app and the Kroger app.

Many stores have changed their coupon policies. They don’t want to accept printed coupons or paper coupons any more due to illegal use or multiple printing. A lot of stores, and many brands, are now going digital. This means that they want more people to use the apps and the rebate app.

You shouldn’t have to pay for the things that you use every day

There are many ways to save money. I don’t pay for toilet paper or skincare products, makeup, diapers, wipes, or even toilet paper. These items can be purchased for very little. These are the most common items that you can get free or make money with rebate apps. These are things we use every day.

One app that I recommend is worth your time:

I use many different apps. However, Ibotta is my favorite app. It’s the easiest to use and offers the most rebates. You just need to upload your receipt and click on the items. Then, you will get reimbursed via an account.
